Starting Over

I came to the conclusion that substituting yarn in the pattern I was knitting was causing all kinds of problems. The garter at was uneven, I had misread the pattern and the different yarn changed the row gauge and for this pattern it mattered. So I pulled it all out.

So frustrating! But it's worth starting over.

I'm always on pretty thin ice when I substitute yarn or start changing stitch counts. Hopefully you find a yarn that works for the pattern!

Sometimes it is so hard to decide whether to keep going or start over. I find myself wondering if I am being too much of a perfectionist or if it really isn't working. Usually I wait much too long to rip it and start over!

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that the first attempt did not go well. It always hurts when you have to rip a couple hours of work out, but I'm sure it will work better this time!

Brave and so right! It might just be one more new years resolution for me - to rip out as soon as I have doubts about something. So often I knit a couple of inches and have my first doubts but decide to carry on, by the time I have knit 6 inches I can't bear to rip it out, but neither can I bear to carry on - thus yet another UFO

Good call on your part and nothin' like a knitter to soldier through no matter what one has to do!

It's so hard to come to this decision sometimes - I tend to just plough on for a while and hope for the best! I must learn to listen to my gut and stop earlier!
