Herringbone Stitch

Yesterday was the opening day of the Western Fair and the start of Wildflower Wool's knitting demonstrations!  Our stitch of the day was the ever fun Herringbone Stitch.

 


 I had a small sample for Knitters to knit the 2 row stitch pattern.  For all of you who can't make it out to see us in person the pattern is below.


Cast on a multiple of 2 sts

Row 1 (RS) - k1 *sl1, k1, yo, psso* k1
Row 2 - *p2tog leaving sts on the left needle, purl the first st again, slip both sts off the left needle*
repeat rows 1 and 2 

Abbreviations
k - knit
yo - yarn over
psso - pass slip stitch over
p2tog - purl 2 stitches together
st - stitch
sl 1- slip one stitch purlwise
* - repeat pattern between the * to end of row
