Every year Debbie from Ziraldo Alpacas and I have a yarn dyeing day. This year we had both an indigo dye pot and a marigold dye pot in use. In our last podcast I mentioned that I would show you some before and after pictures of the yarn I over dyed.
I have a few shelves filled with single skeins that I have dyed just for the fun of trying new colour combos and now here they sit. So, I grabbed 2 to over dye.
The greenish one needed to over dyed. It was too dull. The pinky coloured one wasn't too bad the way it was but I decided it needed to be blue; pink isn't my colour.
I figured that the pink variegated would come out a blue tonal but it didn't. You would never know that there were bright and dark colours under the blue. In the picture, the top skein was the pink and the bottom skein was the green. The green turned out a nice teal colour after a dip in the indigo dye pot. You just never know what you are going to end up with. This new blue yarn will be used in a sweater at some point.
I've had a few people ask me today if we podcasted this weekend. The answer is no. We were supposed to, but I came down with laryngitis! So, after 2 days of having NO voice I'm on the mend. My voice is back but still quite squeaky. Fingers crossed that by Friday we will have a podcast out. Stay tuned. The Fibre Friends will be back soon!!
