Not How I Wanted To Start The New Year

This past weekend was the start of my knitting classes for the new year.  I was so excited to get back into the routine of spending my weekends at yarn shops, meeting new knitters and old friends and teaching them something new.  My first class was a double knitting class so I was doubly excited (pun intended!) to make some new double knitters.

The class went well, the ladies were wonderful, they were double knitting and just as excited as me to be able to switch colours from one side of their knitting to the other making a cushy, reversible fabric.  We all went home looking forward to this coming weekend when we would get together again to learn more.

Then, this happened.  I fell, had my first ambulance ride, had an X-ray, bought this fashionable cast and crutches and was told the X-ray showed my knee cap was broke in half.

I am back him now sleeping on the couch with my leg in its cast unable to put any weight on it waiting to hear when my surgery will be.

no belly dancing anytime soon

The good news is that for the near future I have unlimited knitting time.  The bad news is that all classes in the next few weeks will need to be postponed.  I will be checking and post on instagram, Facebook and ravelry regularly so if you have any knitting questions feel free to ask away.  I will keep you all updated on my progress and will work on rescheduling classes as soon as I can.

Until then, happy knitting and be careful!

Fibre Friends Knit Sister Tube Scarf KAL

Monday was the start date of our (the Fibre Friends Podcast) newest knit-a-long.  If you have a collection of left over sock yarns in your stash this may be the kal for you!

Adrienne has written up a simple pattern for us to use Knit Sister Tube Scarf

And Caroline and I filmed a short video showing one of the ways to do the jogless join when you are working stripes in the round tutorial

I started my scarf on Monday night (unlike Caroline who started hers earlier and I am resisting calling her a cheater, lol!!  ;) using a collection of minis from Old Oak Yarns.  I literally closed my eyes and picked a colour to start with and then just knew that I wanted the brown to be next; so I made these two colours into cakes and cast on using a 3.5mm 16" circular needle.

The kal runs until March so there is lots of time to join in.  To knit along with us, stop by our Ravelry Group - Fibre Friends Podcast- and join in the chatter as we all knit along.

First Cast On of 2018

Can you believe we are halfway through January already?!  Really, where do the days go?

I have spent the beginning of January finishing a shawl that I am very happy to have off the needles.  So......of course when one project is cast off, one must be cast on :)

My first cast on of 2018 is a new pair of socks with a new colourway that I am in love with.  Within hours of being on the store shelf it was on the needles.   No stashing this yarn for me!

Yarn - Patons Kroy Landscape Stripes
Needle - 2.25 mm,  9" ChiagoGoo circular
Pattern - Wildflower Wool Super Simple Socks

What was everyone elses new cast on for the new year?  I would love to know what you are working on :)

Happy Knitting!
